There has been a settlement in St Nicholas dating back to Saxon times, located on the site of the St Nicholas Church.

Back in very early 1970’s work was started on the construction of the St Nicholas Estate.  Looking back in our archives there is a detailed proposal for a community centre and how the local community would benefit.  At the time there were only a couple of shops, a health centre and a public house.  So it was agreed and in 1976 St Nicholas Community Centre was to be built.

Due to the success of the community centre 20 years later plans were submitted for an extension.  In 1996 the new hall annexe was built.

Now in 2018 the Community Centre is vibrant hub and is still home to some clubs who have been here for many years.  We are looking forward to future renovations and another successful 40 years as part of the St Nicholas community.
